The 'Toy' story
While shopping some 'kitchen' stuffs, i came to browse the 'Toy' section of the store, and there it is, did i buy some? the answer is no, why? because i don't see any connection between me and the toys story stuffs, no offence though, its just my nature to collect that i perceive 'nice' to collect and things that are related or sentimentally connected to my life, and that's what i called sentimental value, but not like others just collect stuffs even if they don't know the 'story' but in the end who cares? collectors are increasingly wild nowadays, and its a good sign, the more the merrier, means that if they toy are sold out, the supplier tend to bring or order more stuff here and of course the less we shop overseas.
I dare to say that our country could use this as a "niche" strategy to diversify our dependent on Oil and Gas (which is depleting of course) and i heard the country is turning to Nuclear Power and that's another topic which is too BIG for me to criticise, anyway back the 'toy' story, like i say as a niche strategy is needed, who knows one day our country may have a franchising 'Takara" factory, we do have the natural resources and plus a great demand, In today's world toys are no longer for the children, even the adults are having it not play of course but to collect, as my friend said "some toys are not meant to be played" Anon, 2009.
A branded and classic toy are also Pricey nowadays, if you looked in eBay some toys could reached $5000 Usd dollar, Looking at these price hike why not take the opportunity, maybe by holding a World Toy Convention Expo, Gundam World Expo, SDCC and so on, here in Brunei, well nothing is impossible. We may only have a small population to have it but we do have a high purchasing power, and indirectly it could trigger our Tourism side, the more tourist the more money coming in and that's a good news for us.
